Vanadium and Cobalt Occurrence in the Fe-Ti-V Oxide Deposits Related to Mesoproterozoic AMCG Complex in NE Poland

On the basis of geochemical whole-rock and mineralogical point analyses, concentrations V Co were determined in magnetite-ilmenite oxide ores, associated with sulphides, at Krzemianka Udryn deposits Mesoproterozoic Suwałki Anorthosite Massif (SAM) NE Poland. EPMA analyses showed that main carrier vanadium was magnetite (mean = 0.42 wt%) and, to a lesser extent, ilmenite 0.14 minor Al-spinels 0.04 wt%). In turn, cobalt found mainly form isomorphic substitutions magmatic sulphides such as pentlandite 4.41 wt% Co), pyrrhotite 0.16 wt%), chalcopyrite 0.11 Moreover, Co-enrichments also recognized secondary pyrite bravoite, replacing (means 1.6 2.7 Co, respectively), different thiospinels ((Fe, Ni) (Co, Ni)2S4), siegenite 22.0 pentlandite. Vanadium cations substituted Fe, Ti minerals place Fe+3 cations, case cobalt, Fe+2 thiospinels. high Person’s correlation coefficients (r 0.70), indicating their close spatial coexistence common source, which parental anorthosite-norite magma SAM suites. The genesis sulphide mineralization confirmed by very similar shapes curves REE content oxide-sulphide ores relation chondrite, negative Eu anomalies positive Sm are clearly visible.
